Broadside of Boston was founded by David Wilson in 1962 and covered the thriving folk music scene of Cambridge and Boston. The first issue, dated March 9, 1962, was cranked out on a hectograph machine. Broadside of Boston should not be confused with another folk magazine, the New York-based Broadside founded by Sis Cunningham and Gordon Friesen. For more information on Broadside of Boston and the Cambridge folk scene, see Baby, Let Me Follow You Down, by Eric von Schmidt and Jim Rooney (1979) and Rainbow Quest: The Folk Music Revival & American Society, 1940-1970, by Ronald D. Cohen (2002), both published by University of Massachusetts Press. If you have any issues not pictured here and can help out with some scans, please write to me at doug@richardandmimi.com .
Many thanks to Larry McCombs, editor of another sixties magazine, Folkin' Around, for providing many of the scans. Most of the covers with the "enlarge" option are from Larry.
