Here is the newspaper story from the Los Angeles Times, October 8, 1972, that inspired John Boorman to create the film The Emerald Forest.


Strangely, I could not find a follow-up story that would tell what happened to Ezequiel and his brother in the jungle. But I did find a story that appeared four years later, that told of tragic consequences following the natives' contact with civilized people following the incident:
